This year's Haddington-Aubigny Twinning Scholarship for a one month stay in Aubigny including a work experience placement has been awarded to Louisa Paxton (6T1).

She was up against strong competition for the award and both applicants deserve congratulations for their presentations.

We hope Louisa will find her experience of great benefit in her studies of Law with French at Glasgow University next year.

Félicitations, Louisa

In 2014, we all have an important decision to make: should we vote for Scotland to become independent?

On Thursday two brave teachers, Mr Illingworth and Mr Redford, went head to head and debated this question in front of a huge and very enthusiastic audience of pupils and staff.  I'm sure everyone who attended would agree that the quality of the debate was excellent and the questions from the pupils were thoughtful, mature and showed that teenagers are engaged in politics and are intellectually curious.  It was very impressive and encouraging to see such a massive turnout from pupils across all age groups.

S1s and S2s achieve certificates

This month the following pupils have been presented with certificates for the fantastic progress they've made on the Accelerated Reader programme: Taylor Clark-King, Simon Duke, Anya Wylie and Brigid Hay. Emily Merritt has reached her target in two zones this month and received her Star certificate closely followed by her Classic reader certificate. Cian Woodsend is rocketing through Classic and received his level 4 certicate. He has to reach level 6 to get his Honour certificate.

Well done to these pupils and we hope to celebrate more young readers in our next update!
