Although the Monday holiday made this week a short one, the hectic pace has continued.
On Wednesday, the ‘Northern Lights Quintet’, in East Lothian to perform in the Lammermuir Festival, visited the school. They played a varied programme of music, ranging from Baroque to contemporary, for pupils in the Intermediate, Higher and Advanced Higher Music classes. Also, they answered questions and discussed musical concepts and styles. It was lovely to hear the music emanating from the assembly hall and I was lucky enough to catch the last 15 minutes of the performance. This talented group was greatly appreciated by the pupils and staff.
Yesterday, we held the S1 ‘Settling in Evening’ when we reported back to parents about their youngsters’ first few weeks at the school. It was a delight to be able to report that the majority of S1 pupils have settled into secondary school very well, they are enthusiastic and well behaved, however, some are a little too ‘chatty’ in class. The week will finish with a real treat for the S1 pupils, when cyclist Charline Joiner, (Commonwealth Silver Medalist) will speak to the year group at an assembly.
Today the majority of S6 pupils and an intrepid band of staff head to Dalguise for the annual S6/Staff Team Building weekend. Whatever the weather, I am sure this will be as successful as it has been in previous years.
Best wishes.
