INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL MEALS DAY - 6 MARCH 2014 - RWANDA THEME

International School Meals day will be celebrated across all Scottish Local Authorities on Thursday 6 March 2014.  The theme for this year’s event is the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. East Lothian Council’s Schools Catering was asked to design a school lunch menu that represents Rwanda, one of the secondary countries taking part in the games. We have agreed to take part in this special event.

The attached menu will replace the school lunch menu for that day with a baked potato for the vegetarian choice. The event is organised by ASSIST - a Scottish Local Authorities organisation and several suppliers. They have provided support with posters and other promotional materials for the schools taking part. More information on International School Meals day 2014 is available on the Council’s website

This is an exciting opportunity for children and young people to taste different foods and a good way of educating them about different cuisine around the globe.
