NHS Lothian are delighted to announce they are recruiting to a number of entry level clinical support worker posts at Band 2. 
These posts will be located across NHS Lothian and will be Modern Apprenticeships: Modern Apprenticeships 
They are recruiting to these posts based on your potential to contribute to our high quality patient care as well as demonstration of personal values aligned to those of our organisation: NHS Lothian Values 
To be considered for the Modern Apprenticeship programme candidates must be between 17-24yrs of age and hold a National 4 or above in English and Mathematics. 
In addition to this we are also interested in your values, attitude and ability to learn and how this will enable you to become a valued member of our team. Your supporting statement is therefore extremely important and should reflect how you feel you match our desire for enthusiastic and dynamic people who demonstrate a can-do attitude.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an information session on 20th March 2018 
Interviews will be held on the 29th March and 5th April

The HRFC U18's team are going on tour to Newcastle at the end of March 2018. We are holding a bake sale to fundraise to help pay for the trip. 

It will take place on Monday 12 March at break time in the social area. We would be very grateful if you would attend and buy our cakes.

As part of Eco-Week, the Eco-Committee is having a bake sale on Friday at break time in the social area. All treats will be priced at £1 so come ready with your coins! All the treats will be delicious and the money will be put toward Eco-Committee initiatives to improve the school grounds!

This year Knox Academy Sports Relief will be a series of 4 sports matches between pupils in S5/6 and teachers of the school. We are still looking for more teachers and S5/6 pupils to participate. The events are: Netball, Hockey, Touch Rugby and Football.

If you are a pupil and would like to take part sign up with one of the following people.

  • Netball: 15th of March 1:20-1:50 in the sports hall - Kate Heggie
  • Hockey: 15th of March 4:00-5:30 on the Aubigny astro - Morven Wrinn
  • Rugby: 20th of March 1:20 on the School pitches - Andrew Syme
  • Football: 16th of March 1:00-3:00 on the School pitches - Theo Mcguire

If you are a teacher wishing to sign up to participate for any of the above events speak to either Cole Dean, Andrew McKnight or Mr Wands. Anyone who wants to come along and spectate will be more than welcome.

Please see the below arrangements for completing this year's N5 Computing Science Assignment.

  • All pupils sitting this assessment should attend Computing room M1.14 on Thursday this week straight after registration and will start the assignment.
    • You will get started during periods 1 & 2.
    • You will attend your regular classes periods 3 & 4
    • You will then then return to the department for the afternoon (periods 5 & 6).
  • All pupils should attend the Computing class on Friday Period 3
  • On Monday 12th of March all pupils should come to computing Periods 4 & 6
  • You will all use your normal class on either Monday or Tuesday
  • To complete your assignment you should come during periods 5 & 6 on Tuesday 13th of March.

This year’s East Lothian Swim Gala is on Thursday 15th March. We are looking for swimmers from S1-S3 to represent Knox.

If you are a strong swimmer, swim at a club or for a regional program then we want to hear from you!

To be involved in this year’s event, you must collect a parent letter from the Active Schools Office or at PE by Thursday. Go Knox!

This year’s Knox Dance Showcase is on Monday 26th March.

We are looking for performers from ALL YEARS.

If you wish to be involved in this year’s event, you must collect a parent letter from the Active Schools Office or at PE by the end of this week.

You can dance in a group or as a solo artist and this is the ideal opportunity to be assessed for a 1 off performance at Nat 5 or Higher PE.

As announced on Twitter last week there will be a revision session from 4-6 pm on Tuesday 6 March 2018. This will help give you extra practice and support in time for your Final Coursework Assessment w/c 12 March 2018.

Please come prepared with specific areas you need to focus on based on Benchmarking evaluations. Also remember that discussion of your work with others can also help you develop your practice to maximise marks. 

Miss Dickson will continue theory on Thursday. Please read over materials provided in advance and be prepared with your own questions to get best value from the lesson.

This week - March 5-9 - is Knox Academy's second ever ECO-WEEK! We know how incredibly excited you all are for it!

The aim of Eco-Week is to raise awareness of environmental issues that we face on a global and local level and to get you thinking about how you can do your part to help the environment! There are a lot of events going on this week including environmentally-themed assemblies, registration activities, a green dress-down day, and a bake sale. So make the most of this week, get involved, and be as kind to the environment as possible!
