Eco-Curriculars at Knox Academy

At Knox Academy, we value the environment in our local community and in the wider world. We feel that it is important for young people to engage with environmental issues, which have an impact on our present and undoubtedly on our future. For this reason, there are two environmental clubs at Knox Academy in which students can get involved: the Eco-Committee and the Green Team.

The Eco-Committee is a student and staff group which works to implement positive environmental changes within Knox Academy and the school community. The committee meets once a week on Tuesdays at lunch time in Miss Laudi's room (T1.2) to organise environmental initiatives like awareness campaigns, donation drives, and our ever popular Eco-Week.

The Green Team is Knox Academy's recycling club and we meet every Wednesday at lunch time in Miss Laudi's room (T1.2). We get together once a week to empty recycling from classrooms around the school and we work on other projects throughout the year too. We have an amazing group of students in S1-S4 who are already involved and we always welcome new members!

Follow us on twitter!

For further information or if you would like to contribute to these groups, please contact Miss Laudi.

The Eco-Committee has come up with an excellent list of ways that every member of the school community can lead a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle! Every Tuesday, we'll post a new Eco-Tip to the bulletin for you to discuss in your registration classes and for you to try yourself! If everyone makes an effort to follow these Eco-Tips, we can make a big difference on what we send to landfill!

Our first Eco-Tip is an easy one and it will save you money! Invest in a reusable water bottle and take it with you everywhere you go. Here at Knox, we have several water refill stations to make this easy! Plus, it will save you money since you won't need to buy bottled water any more! Skip the fizzy drinks, save money, and drink water instead!

We are looking for a logo to represent Knox Academy’s eco-curriculars: the Eco-Committee and the Green Team! • Entries can be drawn on paper or created digitally and emailed to Miss Laudi (search jlaudi on Edubuzz).

  • Entries should be submitted to Miss Laudi by MONDAY 8th OCTOBER.
  • Entries will be judged by Miss Laudi, Miss Reynolds (art), and members of the Eco-Committee and Green Team.
  • The student who submits the winning entry will receive a special eco-friendly prize!
